Sheheryar Munawar urges critics of Sinf

Sheheryar Munawar can be currently seen in the highly popular and much loved ARY

Sheheryar Munawar can be currently seen in the highly popular and much loved ARY Digital drama Sinf-e-Aahan in the role of Major Usama. Since the teasers of the drama came out, a lot has been said and written about the lack of Sindhi representation in the play. Sheheryar, who is of Sindhi descent from his paternal side and is a Brahui maternally, is all set to make an entrance in the show and he also faced similar criticism on his social media when he shared a picture of his character.

He expressed his disappointment over fans being unable to "rise above regional biases" after a user questioned the actor "why there were no Sindhi characters in the series". Later, he also shared his reservations about the nation failing to see Pakistan as "one unit".

Sheheryar shared a picture of his character clad in full army uniform on Facebook on December 24, under which a user commented, "Why is there no role of a Sindhi woman in this drama?" To which the actor replied, "I believe all female characters are representing Pakistan and that is what matters the most."

Sinf-e-Aahan's cast includes six leading ladies who have enrolled in the army. These women come from different social, cultural, religious and economic backgrounds.

"Yes [these characters] are representing Pakistani females but they are also showing their ethnicity," a user wrote. "They must keep a Sindhi woman in this drama."

Following the exchange, many users took his side and several disagreed with the actor's point of view and emphasized on the lack of representation. After a bombardment of comments, he wrote: "I am really surprised at some of the comments here and really disappointed by the scattered mindsets of some of our people!"

Sheheryar addressed the issue and expressed: "Rise above your regional biases and always see Pakistan as one unit instead of segregating it on the basis of region, caste, colour and religion! Lastly, do your homework before spreading anarchy amongst the masses! Always focus on the actual message being delivered instead of trying to deviate from it."

He added a video clip of the women in the show during their interview session for the army entrance exam in his comment.
