1. LA SERNA (11-2)

The Lancers took over the top spot in the San Gabriel Valley area rankings last week and promptly added two more wins, beating Cal 8-4 to go to 5-0 in the Del Rio League. It also clobbered Godinez 10-0 in the Duggard Classic. They have league games this week against El Rancho, Santa Fe and Whittier.

2. SOUTH HILLS (7-1-1)

The Huskies were impacted by the rain but finally played their first games since March 9. They beat Bishop Amat 5-3 and got a big win over Downey 5-1 in the La Mirada tournament. The Huskies have not played a Hacienda League game, but have Walnut and Diamond Bar this week.

3. ARCADIA (14-3-1)

The Apaches have an area-best 14 wins. Their games last week were rained out, but they should be able to return to the Pacific League this week. They hope to build on their 3-0 start with games against struggling Pasadena and Glendale.

4. ST. PAUL (15-5)

Previous: 4

The Swordsmen had a 10-game winning streak snapped by a loss to Bishop Amat 8-7, and they had a surprising loss to Cal 4-3 in the La Mirada tournament. The Swordsmen beat a strong Mayfair squad 2-0 in the tourney.

5. LA MIRADA (7-6)

Previous: 3

The Matadores are struggling to stay above .500, and that's mostly due to playing a tougher schedule than the other teams in the SGV rankings. They beat Chino 3-2 but lost to Kennedy 1-0 to finish the week in its own tournament. Like South Hills, they play their first Gateway League games this week against Warren and Mayfair.

6. BONITA (10-6)

Previous: 6

The Bearcats had recently lost six games over a week's time, but rebounded with a big win over Glendora to get to 3-2 in the Palomares League. They did not get to play last week due to the storms. A much-anticipated league showdown with Ayala was moved to April 21. The Bearcats will get Glendora again on Tuesday.

7. TEMPLE CITY (7-2)

The Rams have won five straight, but haven't played in over a week. They are off to a 3-0 start in the Rio Hondo League, but aren't scheduled to play again until next week due to spring break. They have league games to make up and might try to play one or two of those games this week.

8. GLENDORA (6-3)

Previous: 8

The Tartans’ last game was a 3-2 loss to Bonita that dropped them to 3-1 in the Palomares League, but they weren't able to play last week due to the weather. They will play Bonita on the road in another crucial league game Tuesday.

9. SCHURR (11-2)

The Spartans won two Almont League games last week, defeating San Gabriel 12-0 and Keppel 4-2, and they finished the week with a 12-0 nonleague win over Nogales. The Spartans are ranked No. 2 in CIF-SS Division 4 and could be looking at a long playoff run.

10. NORTHVIEW (8-2)

The Vikings have won four straight and are hoping to make a run at the Valle Vista League title. They started the week with a game against Charter Oak on Monday. It figures to be a good league race as five teams entered league with a winning record.
