ATLANTA — A man and a woman were shot late Wednesday night outside a popular shopping complex in Atlanta, police say.

It happened outside The Beacon Atlanta in the southeast part of the city. The shopping complex consists of different restaurants, bars and retail locations, among others.

APD officers believe the two were sitting inside a car when at least one suspect in what appeared to be a stolen Kia drove past them and began shooting into their car.

The owner of Atlanta Ink said one of the victims ran about a block away to his business for help, which is where the ambulance arrived.

Police said the victims were alert and were able to speak with investigators. They were taken to the hospital for treatment.

We do not know if they were targeted or just innocent bystanders.
